The first teaser of the blockbuster expected for the end of the year will be released from this Wednesday in cinemas before “Doctor Strange 2”. BFMTV was able to see it in preview.
Waited for thirteen years, Avatar 2 is not a myth and will be released on December 14th. A first trailer will be broadcast from this Wednesday in dark rooms before the program of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessbefore going live next week.
Lasting less than two minutes, this short teaser exposes almost without a word the stakes of James Cameron’s new blockbuster, dubbed in French Avatar – The Waterway. And should surprise the public by the care given to its images. This feature film must indeed “push the limits of what cinema can do”, announced the director at the CinemaCon festival at the end of April, promising spectacular technological progress.
The plot takes place about ten years after the events told in the first film. We find the Na’vi, this extraterrestrial species originating from the exomoon Pandora, in full exploration, soaring into the air. The sets evoke those of the first film, and in particular its famous flying mountains, inspired by the Chinese region of Wulingyuan.
James Cameron has also promised an aquatic film, which takes place mainly underwater. “It will be Bora Bora on steroids”, had even warned its producer Jon Landau in Entertainment Weekly. The trailer reveals little on this ground, but offers some very immersive images allowing to discover the fauna and the aquatic flave of Pandora.
“The Sully family will be at the center of every sequel”
When the story begins, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) have rebuilt their lives. They are now parents of four children. Their idyllic life, close to nature, made up of hunting and fishing, is however threatened when the Resources Development Administration, a dangerous non-governmental organization, returns to Pandora.
The trailer concludes with this imminent threat, and a line supporting the main theme of the saga Avatarthe family: “I know one thing. No matter where we go, this family is our fortress.”
“The Sully family will be at the center of every Avatar sequel,” Jon Landau told the magazine last year. Total Movie. “We will tell what parents are able to do to protect their children.”
The latter will occupy an important place in the next four parts of the saga. We already know their names: Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), Lo’ak (Britain Dalton) and Tuktirey (Trinity Bliss).
Jake and Neytiri also have an adopted son, who is briefly seen in the trailer: Miles Socorro, aka Spider (Jack Champion). Born on a military base on the planet Pandora, he was raised by his adoptive parents in the bioluminescent jungle.
The rest of the story is not yet known. We only know that Jake and his family will then leave the forest and take refuge in the reefs. It is there, in the depths of the ocean, that they come across the Metkayina clan, whose customs are different from theirs… The latter do not appear in the first teaser.
“The Sully family leaves their favorite environment, the rainforest. They are out of their element, both culturally and environmentally,” Jon Landau summed up at.
“A Big Bet”
james cameron wrote and directed the sequels to his saga in parallel, he explained(Dunes). “We really treated this shoot as if we were doing a six-hour mini-series.” Each film will be independent of the others, and will offer a self-conclusive story.
The cast of the first film, consisting of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver, will return in Avatar 2. Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh and Vin Diesel will also be there.
Avatarwhich hits theaters next September, is currently the biggest hit of all time, grossing $2.847 billion. The Way of the Water Will he repeat this feat? Due to the current situation, James Cameron is quite pessimistic: “Maybe we will never see these kinds of numbers again. Who knows? It’s a big bet.”
