Official unveiling of its Gen.Travel prototype
The Gen.Travel it is not the car of the future but rather the transportation service that everyone will be able to have.
The Volkswagen Gen.Travel it’s not one of those weird prototypes we’ve seen from time to time – although it is enough strange from any point of view. The difference is that it’s not about a car like that as we have learned to think of it today. It’s about the form of movement like this is formed and we will live in the future.
It is one autonomous vehicle, operating without a driver, its body style being strange, because it was VW’s mood was clear from the start to blur the line between standard sedan models and polymorphic ones. What is displayed as priorityis the practicality and the absolute exploitation of the available spaces.
THE VW calls it “Innovation Experience Vehicle (IEV)” and with this it shows us what the form of long-distance travel and – why not? – travel will be, from the next decade onwards. THE VW positions it as an alternative to short air travel, which means that this vehicle will have a large enough battery and capable of covering distances long without stop.
Absolute comfort is ensured by an active name suspension electric Active Body Control (eABC)which calculates the lateral and vertical forces on the car when cornering, accelerating and braking, acting in advance to optimize the response but also the course of the car on the road. With the help of artificial intelligence, the VW sees a future in which the fully autonomous movement of several cars at the same timeit will be possible to maximize travel safety.
By design, the Gen.Travel, features huge doors that open upwards, offering easy access and disembarkation to the spacious cabin. THE lack of of the central pillars from the body, enhances the feeling of spaciousness. The seats fold completely and can adapt in all requirements, for the movement of family or group of friends.
This particular prototype, will be presented with extensive digital analysis, during the event Chantilly Arts & Elegance in France. THE VW makes it clear that this prototype does not prepare the ground for one corresponding production model but it brings together many elements that they already have launched for models that we will soon see on the market.
