Referendums in the regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson will be held from tomorrow Friday and will last five days. Despite Western reactions to Putin’s escalation of the war, the plan to hold referendums has been announced.
As reported by international media as well as the Russian Tass, the polling centers will not operate every day, for security reasons, but residents will vote from their homes as the ballot box will be moved from door to door. Polling stations will also be set up in Russia for those who fled during the war. Moscow has announced that it has sent invitations for international observers to participate in the voting process, and that some have accepted them, without specifying which countries.

It is also interesting that the question that will be asked in the referendums changes by region, as well as the language in which it will be formulated.
How the questions are phrased
In Donetsk, the question will be: “Are you in favor of joining the Donetsk People’s Republic to the Russian Federation with the rights of a citizen of the Russian Federation?” The self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic uses the same wording. In both of these areas the question will be in Russian.
In Kherson the question will be: : “Are you in favor of the secession of the Kherson region from the state of Ukraine, the creation of the Kherson region as an independent state and its union with the Russian Federation as a subject of the Russian Federation?” In occupied Kherson, Marina Zakharova – who chairs the electoral commission – said that around 750,000 people are expected to vote.
And to the occupied parts of Zaporizhia: “Do you vote FOR the secession of Zaporizhia Oblast from Ukraine, the creation of Zaporizhia Oblast as an independent state, and its accession to the Russian Federation as a sub-unit of the Russian Federation?”.
In Kherson and Zaporizhia the questions will be formulated in both Russian and Ukrainian languages.
According to the Russian Tass, everything is ready for tomorrow, while it makes special reference to the increased security measures as the Russian side expects that the Ukrainian side will intensify the attack with shells.
