An outbreak of the Ebola virus has been declared in Uganda, as pointed out by the country’s Ministry of Health and also by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The country’s Ministry of Health, with its publication on Twitter, confirmed a case of Ebola in the region of central Uganda, Mubende: it is a 24-year-old man, who developed symptoms and later died.
The WHO’s Africa office said in a statement that the case was infected with the relatively rare Sudanese strain after Ugandan health authorities investigated six suspicious deaths in that region within the month.
“Currently there are eight suspected cases receiving treatment in a health facility,” the World Health Organization in Africa announced, as reported by the Athens News Agency, adding that it was assisting Ugandan health authorities in their investigation and sending personnel to the affected area.
