In the course of the pandemic, the cancellation of vaccination fines and the return of unvaccinated health workers was mentioned by the Minister of Health, Thanos Pleuris, in an interview on Sunday morning.
“We are not done with the pandemic, it is here” Thanos Pleuris initially said a day after Tsiodra’s speech about the four scenarios of the course of the virus in the next period.
As Thanos Pleuris told OREN, “we are waiting for a wave that will come. What makes us relatively optimistic is that even in the wave of summer we saw cases at the level of winter, but the intubations are consistently below 100”.
Vaccines have been available for 10 days
Referring to the available vaccines, the Minister of Health said that “the vaccines of the latest generation have been available for 10 days. There has been a wait of the people, our vaccines are the last updated, we are not waiting any more, there is an increase in the age of over 60 where there is a recommendation and it is especially critical.”
He cited, in fact, the latest data which, as he said, show that “those vaccinated with both the previous vaccines and those that prevent the disease in vulnerable groups are 5-6 times safer than not getting seriously ill”.
Explaining why there is this picture today in ICUs with less than 100 intubated due to coronavirus, the Minister of Health noted that this happens “because the vulnerable groups are vaccinated at 92%”.
What did Tsiodras mean?
Asked to comment on the phrase “we failed” by Sotiris Tsiodras, Thanos Plevris argued that “he (s.s. Mr. Tsiodras) was referring to the polyphony that existed at some point in the scientific field”.
The Minister of Health also referred to the fine imposed in order to strengthen the vaccination movement and after observing that “with very strict measures we went from 50% vaccination to 80%” he then explained that “the fine was applied for 3 months and stopped and what we get back is that those who were fined and then vaccinated in them to be deleted. With the fine, 300,000 people were vaccinated.”
What did he say about unvaccinated health workers?
Finally, Thanos Pleuris referred to the unvaccinated health workers for whom he said that the government’s decision to exclude them from the NHS “was one of the most correct decisions we made”.
“People who don’t believe in science should be out of the NHS. Even the latest studies show that the unvaccinated transmit more than the vaccinated. As the Minister of Health, I could not bear the burden of an oncology patient getting infected and infected by an unvaccinated doctor” added Mr. Pleuris.
“What did the CoE tell us? Because I have never hidden my position that it should be excluded altogether, that is, vaccination should be a formal qualification. In the decision that the SC ruled that the measure is constitutional, it said that because it is indeed a measure that strongly interferes with the person’s personality, it should be evaluated at regular intervals. In this sense, it will be assessed in October, we are waiting for the data of October” concluded the Minister of Health who presented data according to which the National Health Service has a total of 107,000 people working in it and the unvaccinated are 2,100.
