Having already given a long time the mark of its intentions with regard to electrification, the Jeep reveals from the international French exhibition in the form of a compact crossover its first electric model which has been developed and designed with the preferences of the European market in mind for which it will be an almost exclusive privilege.
On the invisible side of the electric Avenger hovers the e-CMP2 architecture which, “for its own sake” Jeep will undertake to accommodate configurations with one or two electric motors, as the new Jeep model will be available in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions which are expected in the second year.
As for the two-wheeled version that takes on the weight of recommendations, it benefits from a new chemical composition battery with a capacity of 54 kWh (51 KWh usable) which is shared under the front and rear seats. The battery is accompanied by a circuit that allows charging with a voltage of up to 100 kW in a DC fast charger, a process that allows the energy to be replenished from 20-80% in 24 minutes.
The battery promises a range of up to 400 km on a combined cycle based on WLTP or 550 km in urban conditions and is responsible for feeding a 154 hp and 260 Nm of torque electric motor that drives the front wheels.
Despite the fact that the drive is transmitted to the front axle, the Avenger promises to favor the most adventurous pursuits thanks to its design, specially developed driving programs for the occasion (eco, normal, sport, sand, mud, snow), the system hill descent and the suspension arrangement which consists of MacPherson struts on the front axle and semi-rigid on the rear.
Inside, the center of the dashboard occupies a 10.25-inch screen for infotainment which will be the only available dimension for the entertainment and information system based on the Android Automotive operating system.
That doesn’t mean it lacks functional Apple CarPlay which offers wireless connectivity with OS devices. In addition, the infotainment integrates a TomTom navigation system while being combined with an instrument panel from 7.0 to 10.25 inches depending on the version. The central console adopts a clean design housing controls and switches for the driving programs and the air conditioning system while also contributing to the interior storage areas which in total are summarized at 34 liters.
In terms of practicality, the volume of the trunk starts at 380 liters while the square design promises a spacious feeling for the rear seat passengers.
The Avenger will be available in three trim levels, Sport Longitude and Limited, being available in seven different colors for the body and with wheels from 16 to 18 inches and its personality will be complemented by a wide list of personalization options which will exceed 100.
