The series premiered on Monday, September 19Love Runs Away» shown on OPEN.
THE Antonis Karystinos who stars in the series, gave an interview to the magazine 7 Meres Tv and made several revelations both about the evolution of the series and about the character, Jason, which he embodies.
Starting the interview, the actor talked about the reasons he said “yes” to the daily series: “The historical context of the time played a big role, as things that concerned people in 1957, such as survival, poverty and the hope for a better life, concern the world today. For me, this was a big lure, as in the theater I have acted in period plays but not on television. I will also mention the director Vassilis Tselemego – this is the second time I have worked with him and I am very happy about it, because I admire him for his excellent work. I am very happy as I have worked with Stavros Svigos in “Asteras Rahulas”, so I know him acting, and I have worked with Pemi Zounis in the theater. With Stavros Zalmas and Danis Giannakopoulou, we are meeting for the first time, but we have a perfect collaboration, because we approach the work from the same point of view. It is not a matter of chemistry, but of optics. I consider it a blessing that such series are made».
Following his interview, he talked about his role in the series: “Jason is heir to the largest estate in the area. As a first impression, he seems nice and kind to the outside. But at the same time, he is a person who can be very cruel to anyone who is not right towards him. In this case, therefore, he becomes the villain of the story in order to keep close to him the woman he loved from the first day he saw her. He may live in a patriarchal society, but he is not the male-master. He has lived abroad, has other ideas and wants a better society for men and women. For Jason, Alexandra is like karma, kismet. He sees her in Athens coming out of a house and falls in love with her as an ideal female image. So this girl he dreams of at night suddenly appears in front of him and asks him for a job. So, this is a shocking moment. She is the love of his life». Regarding “Alexandra”, who is embodied by Dani Giannakopoulou, he said: “Alexandra lives in a time when women had no say in her love choices, even though she broke up with the man she loved, Marco. To save Mark, she marries Jason, pays a price, and takes him as consul».
Finally, Antonis Karystinos commented on whether love is a revolutionary act: “I would not say that. As revolutionary I would only characterize a collective political act for the progress of society and not something individual, which is essentially an emotional choice. Revolution is a social and not an individual change».
The premise of the series
The love of Markos, a car mechanic, and Alexandra, a tailor, which begins in Athens in 1955 with the most simple, everyday and auspicious prospects, ends up becoming the cause of a huge confrontation somewhere in Messinia, in a rural area with large farms . The whole region is shocked by the war that breaks out because of this love.
An honor killing brings the couple to a remote province. They hide in a large farm as land workers. No one knows they are a couple. This leads to misunderstandings and the prospect of wrong relationships. Intrigues and underground feuds are born. The lord of the area Jasons Demertzis falls passionately in love with Alexandra. When she loses Marco, who is convicted of murder, he marries her, unaware that she is pregnant.
Markos, coming out of prison, makes it his life’s goal to take revenge. To achieve this, he will manage to become as powerful as his opponent. The war between them will be war to the end. When dreams are shattered and innocents are wronged, revenge is the only way.
