Jungheinrich contributes to the circular economy – with climate-smart trucks
The leasing period on a truck is normally 5-7 years. Jungheinrich’s two reconditioning factories ensure that the lifespan of a truck is doubled, which is a win for the environment as well as the wallet.
Leading intralogistics supplier Jungheinrich started its unique, industrial reconditioning business in 2006. Today, approximately 7,000 trucks are refurbished a year in the factories in Dresden, Germany and Ploiesti, Romania.
– We are alone in the industry to have dedicated factories for used trucks. It has really been a success story, says Jacob Trevett, Sales Director Rental & Used, at Jungheinrich.
Significantly gentler on the environment
The reconditioning process is carried out in six steps according to a standardized method where you dismantle the truck, replace worn components, reassemble and repaint the truck. Each step also undergoes rigorous quality checks. The result is a used truck with essentially the same performance as a new one – but significantly more environmentally friendly.
– We aim to become a CO2-neutral business. By reconditioning used trucks, we contribute to a circular economy and thus save large amounts of carbon dioxide, if compared to new production. And you basically get a new truck, says Jacob Trevett.
The same warranty as a newly manufactured truck
Another big advantage of renting or buying a used truck is the cost, which is up to 30 percent lower than with new production – and the warranty is always the same, emphasizes Jacob Trevett.
– The user gets exactly the same security as when buying a new truck, both in terms of quality and terms. We offer full service and a 12-month warranty.
94 percent is reused
Thanks to large-scale reconditioning of trucks, 94 percent of trucks are reused today.
– We regard a reconditioned truck as a new one – albeit at a lower price, concludes Jacob Trevett.
