THEis continuing unabated the electrification of its range, aiming for its pure electric models to represent almost 1/3 of sales by 2025.
A typical example is the passenger version of the new electric carwhich we had the opportunity to see up close during the event organized by the French company, on the outskirts of Paris.
The French model in its 25 years on the road has sold more than 4.4 million models in 50 countries in totalwhile among its advantages we naturally distinguish its transport capabilities, both as a passenger and as a business, but also its original design character.
In 2022, Renault presents for the first time in the history of its versatile model, its purely electric version E-Techwhich according to the managers of the product range has nothing to envy the version with the thermal motor, while, at the same time, it is equipped with enough autonomy, but also zero environmental footprint.
One of the most important innovations in the body of the electric Kangoo E-Tech is the layout inside, with 2nd row of seats to be positioned higher than the front, offering better visibility for three adult passengers, who have sufficient knee and head space.
Positioning also helps in the above sliding mechanism in the rear seatswhich, among other things, increases the capacity of the trunk from 850 per 2,500 litresbeing one of the leaders in the category.
At the same time, there are many storage solutions with a total capacity of up to 49 literswhile the driver has at his disposal an upgraded cockpit, with a newly designed steering wheel, while the seats are completely redesigned.
The electric motor of the new Kangoo E-Tech Electric has power 90 kW and 245 Nm of torquewhile the lithium-ion battery pack has an energy capacity 45 kWh and consists of 8 autonomous and easily repairable units. On a full charge the Kangoo E-Tech Electric can travel up to 285 km (WLTP cycle)which cover most daily needs.
Batteries come with 8 year or 160,000 km warranty. As the French manufacturer announces, it is possible to replace them, without financial burden, when the capacity drops below 70%.
For a charge 5-80% of the battery is needed 2 ½ hours from a public charging station (22kW)while in a source of 11 kW for 15-80% the corresponding time is 2 hours and 40 minutes and less than 6 hours in a 7.4 kW wall box (15-100%).
The driver can choose between two driving programs, Normal and Eco where in the second the power is so limited to 56 kWas well as the top speed at 110 km/h, improving the autonomy offered. It can also choose between three energy recovery programs: the B1 (Sailing), B2 (Drive) and B3 (Brake).
The menu of mechanical innovations of the electric Kangoo is not missing either new air conditioning system that has a heat pumpwhich aims to improve the car’s electrical energy management and consequently save more (energy) in favor of autonomy.
The new Renault Kangoo E-Tech Electric will make its official presentation to the public on October 17on its margin Paris Motor Showwhile the first deliveries are expected in early 2023.
