Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan may have recently launched a barrage of challenges against Greece and Cyprus, but at the Prague Summit, he had a meeting and even photographed to shake hands with him Nikos Anastasiadis.
According to a government source, cited by Alpha Cyprus, Mr. Anastasiades during their meeting told Recep Tayyip Erdogan that “we will have to see what we do with the issue of the Cyprus problem”, declaring the readiness of the Greek Cypriot side to return the as soon as possible at the negotiating table.
The same source reported that the Turkish president replied to Nicos Anastasiades that, yes, we should see what we do with the Cyprus issue, adding, however, that “it is not the right time”. This reference by Erdogan was interpreted as if the Turkish side, at least at the moment, is not ready to take steps regarding the resolution of the Cyprus issue.
